Alderney is easy to get to for your special day.
Most girls dream of their wedding day. We imagine how the dress will be styled, what colour the bridesmaids will be in and, er, how the groom will look, but another important aspect is the location.

For some a traditional church wedding is the way to go; others dream of a beach wedding set on glorious white sands and in the grounds of a luxury hotel.

But, lets face it, few can afford to travel to some far-flung tropical island to get married and it's unlikely that Great Aunt Muriel and Grandpa Joe will be happy in the heat or indeed fancy taking the long haul flight.

That is where the Channel Island of Alderney comes to the rescue.

Perfect location for a wedding.
Alderney's quaint island charms coupled with white sandy beaches and cosy hotels make it the perfect location for a wedding. Not only that, but it is close to the UK for all the family to attend and enjoy a well-earned break at the same time.

Get married within six days of arriving in Alderney.
Couples can get married in the island within six days of arriving. They only need to be resident for three days prior to giving notice for a special licence, including one day which must elapse before the wedding ceremony.

For those looking for a religious service on the island, there is the opportunity to be married in an Alderney Church.

Marriages by special licence.
Marriages by licence or certificate must take place in the islands Courthouse. Marriages by special licence can take place in the Courthouse, a private house, the Anne French Room, the Braye Beach Hotel, the Harbour Lights Hotel or the Georgian House Hotel.

All of the hotels can offer a fully inclusive package for the couples special day, from the wedding ceremony through to the reception. Alternatively they can simply cater for just part of the day.

Ideal for scenic photographs.
There are a variety of hotels and guest houses on the island, for you and your guests to stay in, each within walking distance of ideal places for scenic photographs and wedding breakfasts
to remember.

The other difference is timing. A marriage by licence or certificate can take place between 8am and 3pm. A special licence can be at any time of the day, even under the clear night sky.

Something different.
If you have always fancied your wedding to be a 'little bit different' and a 'little bit special', then why not hold a drinks reception on the Channel Islands only running train? - which incidentally pulls two Northern Line underground carriages. What better way to enjoy your celebratory glass of champagne and canapés whilst taking a scenic ride along Alderney's coast.

Alternatively, you could take your wedding party on a bus tour of the island with the final destination being your reception. A wonderful way to enjoy the spectacular and dramatic views that Alderney has to offer.

For the horse lover, there is always the opportunity of having some wedding photographs with a difference, as you ride across one of Alderney's white sandy beaches*.

Some couples have also been known to indulge in a boat trip around the island with their guests. You can see the two Gannet colonies, Puffins, Grey Atlantic Seals and many more sea birds, whilst enjoying an aperitif.
